We are family...

My name is Manasa and I'm so happy to have you here!

My personal mission to start Blessed Roots comes from my lovely family. I come from a background of Indian agriculturists, researchers, microbiologists and believers of ayurveda for holistic healing. I can count on one hand the number of times I've been to a doctor when I've been sick. Food was our medicine; you'd be amazed how my mom and grandparents could correctly identify a random, indistinct plant by the road and make a delicious dish with it, educating me on its benefits as we ate. They still do this, and it is that intelligence which drew me to naturopathy. I went on to get an undergrad degree in Biochemistry, Microbiology and Biotechnology followed by a Master's in Biotech. After graduating, I became a Cancer researcher at an institute in Florida - our focus being natural treatments for breast and prostate cancers. I have also worked in infectious diseases labs. I am currently a Biology Professor in Dallas, where I teach my students nutrition, cell biology and A&P to name a few.

When I became a mom, I found myself turning to my own mother for advice when my son became sick or developed a rash. She shared with me the remedies that had been passed down through our family for generations, using common herbs and household items that were easily accessible. I quickly learned the benefits of these natural remedies and began to incorporate them into my own parenting practices. It was comforting to know that I could rely on the wisdom of my mother and the traditions of our family to provide gentle and effective care for my child. I was always too scared to incorporate drugs or medicines, seeing the amount of dyes and side effects they posed. My heart hurt when I saw articles or news of sick children, and those that suffered due to Covid. Those who struggle daily with cancer or diabetes.

We aim to empower...

We want to equip everyone with this knowledge: illnesses CAN be cured even if we are told otherwise. It takes understanding and hard work, prayer and patience but you can get better. Your quality of life can improve. You can pass on this knowledge to your children and their children. I believe that we can care for our health and wellbeing using the ancient wisdom of our ancestors coupled with modern and environmental awareness, without relying solely on expensive hospitals and pharmaceutical drugs.

By nurturing our health and heritage, we can nourish and heal our bodies from the inside out. My goal is to help you take control of their health, at home with easily accessible pantry staples, nourishing food and products catered to clean wellness and self care.

Through Blessed Roots, I hope to educate and inspire individuals to cultivate a deeper connection to their bodies and the natural world, and to live with more vitality and wellness.

Who we are

We hope to inspire...

Apart from my family, my source of motivation and wisdom stems from my walk with God. I may never have started this blog, shying away from this strong need to guide my readers on the why, what and how of whole body wellness, if not to give glory to Him.

My prayer for you, dear reader, is that you care for yourself well and have a zest for life, as a way to honor God, your family and your loved ones.
